When I located this in the basement, my husband and I had a lengthy conversation about it. This is the only waffle maker I ever knew until he and I got together. I remember when I saw it come out of the cabinet as a child, that meant we were having breakfast for dinner! My dad would man the waffle maker and I was in charge of watching for the light to come on, because that meant it was ready. Eight-inch round golden-brown waffles, about a half inch thick. Those were the best dinners. My husband's response, "so, what you don't like the waffles we make?" Really, that's your takeaway... oy.
We cleaned this up and tested it. My husband, being an electrician, said it works, but he wouldn't use it. The cord (original as far as I know) gets hot when it's on and he said that's dangerous. He insisted that I tell potential buyers.
One of the handles was broken off years ago and when we found it, the handle was in the box with it, so my husband glued it back on, see Photo #4.
While researching these waffle makers, I was tickled to know that it was made in my hometown of Rochester, NY. And the fact that I still have the cord, while so many others don't.
This is a great find for a collector. But again, I wouldn't use it, because the hubs warned it's not safe.
