This rare medal (fob or pendant) is a souvenir commemorative medal from the Jubilee Exhibition, the 1884 world's fair held in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of Victoria's first successful British settlement (at Portland) on November 19, 1834. . This medal was holed (as issued?) for use as a fob or pendant. The diameter i
s approximately 22.5 mm (7/8").
This medal is in very good condition, with signs of handling, toning, and soiling, and it remains very bright with a very good silver color.
The illustrations in this listing are photos of the actual item being offered for sale, serving as part of the description. NOTE: This item is much lighter in color (with a much better silver color), much brighter, and more attractive than evident in the photos.
